File 2004.18: Riverfront Development
Description:
A unique case in which visualization as litigation support laid the foundation for commercial development.
The city of Kansas City, Missouri was planning development of a major urban economic and residential center adjacent to the banks of the Missouri River. To garner support, the Port Authority of Kansas City first had to elicit the clean-up of acres of chemical deposits caused by Coal / Gas manufacturing facilities of the early 20th Century.
Visualizations Produced:
Fearless Eye produced a series of visualizations centering on the site topography that showed chemical plumes and cutaway ground plane views with emphasis on potential toxicity at various depths. Soon after successful mediation, a local utility company performed bio-remediation.
Once the site was made attractive for potential anchor commercial tenants, Fearless Eye produced an animation highlighting proposed developments of newly revived residential and commercial districts to supplement the city's marketing efforts.
